Seamless Installation,

Simple Future Adaptation

Our Inverse Former is installed beneath the floor covering with a plumbed in gully.

For Bathrooms: Install beneath the bath; the removable former cover allows future conversion into a step-free accessible shower. Simply remove the bath and waste adaptor, uncover the shower former, and prepare the former ready for the floor covering.

For Toilets: Our system can be installed beneath the floor covering, plumbed in and blanked off ready to be adapted in the future. Simply remove the former cover and blanking plug, prepare the former ready for the floor covering and install the waste cap.. Both options comply with Doc M4(2), ensuring that your builds remain adaptable as regulations evolve, while simplifying future modifications for accessibility.

Why Doc M4(2) & (3)
from On The Level?

Meet Legislation: Doc M4(3) is mandatory for a percentage of units, and Doc M4(2) compliance is on the rise, now covering over 70% of units in some developments.

Tanking made simple: Either through supply or supply and installation by one of our engineers we can ensure your level access rooms and adaptable rooms are tanked to meet the new guidance from the NHBC, offering a warrantied specification to provide peace of mind.

Cost-effective & Time-saving: With our all-in-one, easy-install system, you’ll save time and costs while ensuring your projects meet all future accessibility needs.

Questions

What is DOC M4(2)?

DOC M4(2) refers to a section of building regulations focused on access to and use of dwellings, as well as future adaptability. For over 20 years, we have been supplying formers for level-access showers that comply with DOC M4(3), which caters specifically to disabled access. In contrast, DOC M4(2) focuses on incorporating features during construction to facilitate easy and cost-effective adaptability in the future. To address this, we developed Inverse, a solution designed to be installed now and converted into a functional shower later with minimal effort and expense.

Yes, the Inverse can be installed in a WC without the bath adaptor. The former is plumbed, blanked off, and covered with a lid, ready for floor covering or, in some cases, the toilet pan. Future conversion to a shower is straightforward and follows the same process as for bathrooms.

The Inverse is a cost-effective solution and is competitively priced compared to alternatives that lack easy future conversion features. For a precise quotation, please contact our office with details of your project.

To convert the Inverse:

  1. Remove the bath, bath waste, and bath adaptor.
  2. Take off the Inverse top to reveal the pre-plumbed shower floor falls and drain.
  3. Sand around the perimeter as needed, install the drain cap, and prepare the floor for tanking.
  4. Finish with tiling or apply a vinyl floor.

Inverse is compatible with various substrates, including screeded floors, timber joists, and metal frames. For tailored recommendations, contact our office with your project’s build-up details.

The Inverse can be installed:

  • Before screeding: Positioned directly in the floor.
  • After screeding: Shuttered out with a concrete sub-floor.
  • Before floor covering: Installed with wooden joisted floors.
For specific installation guidance, please contact our office.

The Inverse is available in two standard sizes:

  • 1200mm x 1200mm
  • 1000mm x 1000mm

Custom sizes can also be ordered. Contact us for more details.

The standard Inverse former is 24mm thick and may require an 18mm waste support depending on the substrate. Custom depths are available for screed floors, making installation seamless before the floor is poured.

The Inverse is designed for easy installation by plumbers, carpenters, or general builders, especially those familiar with our formers. At On The Level, we provide comprehensive support, including guidance for first-time installers and an installation service that includes warranties and tanking advice. Contact us for more information.

When installed under a bath, the waste water exits via the bath adaptor and gully in the Inverse former. During conversion, the bath waste and adaptor are removed, and the drain cap is installed to create a functional shower drain.

Yes! Our unique manufacturing process allows us to customise formers to meet specific project requirements, including size, shape, and build-up. Contact us for more information about minimum quantities and bespoke solutions.
